Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to Giddens Elementary Library! Your children will be coming to our library for a scheduled class every six days. In addition, they may come during daily open library times to exchange books. Children can come every day for a new book if the old book is completed. Students in Pre K-5th Grade are allowed to check out two books each time they visit the Media Center. Children are encouraged to bring their books each library class, but they can always renew their books during library class, too.

I do my best to individually help each student choose at least one independent book for his/her age and reading level. An independent choice is a book that students can read and understand themselves. Please help in this task by talking to your child about his/her selection choices and let me know if any issues arise. Unfortunately, due to the large amount of children helped each day, I cannot monitor every book choice, so your involvement in your child’s reading material is important to us at Giddens.

Please let me know if one of our books gets damaged or needs some kind of repair. Please do not try to repair our school library books at home since I will take care of all repairs at school. Lost books or books that cannot be repaired will need to be replaced, so a price will be sent home and will need to be paid before a new book can be selected by your child. If the book is returned within the same school year of when it was lost, a refund will be given.

If you have any questions, please email me

Thank you,
Hannah Hnytka
